Finish Carpentry

The complete finish package for a custom home, an addition or a full remodel. We handle casing, base, ceilings and every transition between them, so the whole house reads as one continuous piece of work instead of a set of separate jobs.

We work off the plans and off the actual building, because the two are never identical. Layout gets set on site, profiles are ripped and stacked as needed, and every run is dry fit before it goes up.

  • Window and door casing, stools and aprons
  • Coffered, tray and beamed ceilings
  • Fireplace surrounds and mantels
  • Punch list and finish repairs

Service 02

Custom Trim & Molding

Baseboards, crown molding, wainscot, board and batten and picture frame paneling. We size the profile to the room, not to whatever the lumberyard had in stock, so a nine foot ceiling gets a crown that reads at that height and a period house gets trim that matches its era.

Long walls get scarf joints in the right place, outside corners get glued and pinned, and inside corners get coped rather than mitered so they stay closed through a New England winter.

  • Crown, cove and built up ceiling molding
  • Baseboard, shoe and chair rail
  • Wainscot, board and batten, panel molding
  • Matching existing profiles in older homes

Doors & Frames

Interior and exterior doors, prehung units or jambs built on site for openings that are out of square. Doors get hung plumb, shimmed at the hinges and latch, and set with a reveal that is even top to bottom.

We also handle the hardware: mortised hinges, latches, closers, pocket door frames and barn door tracks blocked properly in the wall so nothing sags a year later.

  • Interior and exterior door installation
  • Site built jambs and casing
  • Pocket doors and barn door hardware
  • Hardware mortising and adjustment

Service 04

Stairs & Railings

Straight runs, winders, curved stairs and open riser designs. Treads, risers, skirtboards and landings, all laid out on site so every riser height comes out the same and the stair passes inspection the first time.

On the railing side we install newels, balusters, over the post and post to post handrail, cable railing and metal balusters, with the handrail height and baluster spacing set to code without making the design look heavy.

  • Stair treads, risers and skirtboards
  • Curved and open riser staircases
  • Handrail, newels and balusters
  • Cable and metal railing systems

Built-Ins & Cabinetry

Mudroom lockers, pantries, closets, window seats, bookcases and entertainment walls. Built to the actual opening and scribed to the wall, so there is no filler strip giving away that it was dropped in later.

We also handle cabinet installation for kitchens and baths: setting boxes level, fitting fillers and panels, and running light rail, toe kick and crown so the cabinetry ties into the rest of the trim in the house.

  • Mudroom lockers, benches and cubbies
  • Pantries, closets and shelving
  • Bookcases and entertainment walls
  • Kitchen and bath cabinet installation

Interior Woodwork

The features that give a room its character. Shiplap and tongue and groove walls, slat and reeded panels, plank and beamed ceilings, accent walls with integrated lighting, and exposed timber work.

These are the details people photograph. They also need the most planning, because layout, lighting and blocking have to be right before the first board goes on the wall. We work that out with you and your electrician up front.

  • Shiplap and tongue and groove walls
  • Slat and reeded accent panels
  • Plank ceilings and exposed beams
  • Integrated LED and cove lighting details
