Home / About
Signature Finish Carpentry is a finish carpentry company based in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, working with builders, general contractors and homeowners across Worcester County.
Our story
Framing gets a house standing. Finish carpentry is what makes it feel finished. It is the trim around the windows, the stair you take every morning, the built-in that fits the wall like it was always there.
That is all we do. We do not spread across every trade in construction, because finish work does not reward a generalist. It rewards someone who knows how a scarf joint should sit, how much a floor is out of level before it shows in the base, and how to lay out a stair so every riser lands the same.
Most of our work comes from builders and remodelers who bring us back on the next house, and from homeowners who saw one of our jobs in person. That is the reputation we want to keep.
The company is led by Ricardo De Melo and worked for years as RS Finish Carpentry before taking the Signature Finish Carpentry name. Ten years in, it is a registered Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor (HIC #219068) with a 5.0 rating across 45 reviews on Google and Thumbtack.
What you get
None of this is complicated. It is just what a finish carpenter should be doing, done every time.
Finish carpentry is our whole business, not a side service. You get someone who does this every day of the week.
Scribed to the wall, mitered and glued, sanded and set. The painter should not need to hide our work with caulk.
Floors covered, cuts made outside or on a table with extraction, and the space swept before we leave for the day.
A written scope and price before we start, a real schedule, and a call if anything on site changes the plan.
Who we work with
Custom home builders. We take the whole finish package on new construction, coordinate with your schedule and keep the trim on the same standard as the rest of the house.
Remodeling contractors. Additions, kitchen and bath remodels, whole floor renovations. We match existing profiles when the house has character worth keeping.
Homeowners. One room or the whole house. Crown molding in the living room, a stair railing that finally looks right, a mudroom that fits the family.
Tell us what you are working on. We will walk the site and put a real number in writing.
