Doors & Frames
Most door problems are not door problems. They are rough openings that are out of plumb, jambs shimmed in the wrong place, or hinges that were not mortised deep enough. The door swings open on its own, the latch catches, the reveal runs out.
We check the opening first. If it is close, we shim and set the prehung properly. If it is not, we build the jamb on site to fit the wall we actually have, which is common in older houses and in additions where the framing has settled.
Hardware is part of the job, not an afterthought. Hinges mortised clean, latches bored on center, closers adjusted, and blocking in the wall before any barn door track goes up so it is still level in five years.
Scope
Prehung and slab doors, single and double, hung plumb with an even reveal and a latch that closes with one hand.
Entry and patio units set level, flashed and shimmed properly, with weatherstripping that actually seals.
For openings that are out of square or an odd thickness, we build and case the jamb to fit the wall as it is.
Frame kits installed square and braced, so the door runs quiet and the drywall does not crack at the head.
Track blocked into framing, header trimmed, hardware set so the door clears the casing and the floor.
Hinge mortising, latch and deadbolt boring, strike plates and final adjustment after the house settles.
Process
Plumb, level and width get checked before the unit comes out of the box, so problems surface before installation, not after.
Hinge side set plumb first, then the latch side shimmed to hold a consistent reveal top to bottom.
Casing installed, hardware fitted, and the swing checked so the door stays where you leave it.
Questions
Often yes, if the new unit matches the old jamb. If the sizes differ we can rebuild the casing to match the rest of the house.
Yes. Hinges, latches, deadbolts, closers and barn door track are all part of the install.
It depends on the openings. A straightforward prehung goes quickly; an out of square opening in an older house takes longer, and we would rather take the time.
Yes. For openings that are out of square, especially in older houses, we build the jamb on site to fit the opening instead of forcing a prehung unit into it.
Yes. Pocket door frames and barn door tracks are installed with proper blocking in the wall so the door does not sag or drift a year later.
Yes. We install both interior and exterior doors, including the casing and the hardware.
