Services
Finish carpentry is the woodwork installed after the drywall and before the paint: window and door casing, baseboard, crown molding, stairs, railings, built-ins, mantels and ceiling treatments. It is the visible, touchable part of a house, as opposed to framing, which is the structure behind the walls.
Yes. Crown molding, baseboard and shoe, wainscot, board and batten and picture frame paneling are installed on site. Inside corners are coped rather than mitered so they stay closed through New England seasonal movement, and the crown size is chosen to suit the ceiling height and the rest of the trim in the room.
Yes. A single room of crown molding or one stairwell of paneling is a normal job for Signature Finish Carpentry, not too small.
Usually. Profiles can be milled or stacked to match the existing trim, so an addition or a renovated room does not read as new work next to the original house.
Yes, it is one of the most common jobs. The carpet comes off, the stringers are checked, and new treads, risers and skirtboards are installed. Railings can be replaced at the same time with wood, metal or cable balusters.
Yes. Signature Finish Carpentry installs shop or supplier cabinetry for kitchens and baths: setting the boxes level, fitting fillers and panels, and running light rail, toe kick and crown so the cabinets tie into the rest of the trim. It also builds site built cases such as mudroom lockers, pantries, window seats and bookcases.
Yes. Interior and exterior doors, prehung units or jambs built on site for out of square openings, pocket door frames and barn door tracks, along with the hardware: hinges, latches, deadbolts and closers.
Yes. Shiplap and tongue and groove walls, slat and reeded panels, plank and beamed ceilings, box beams or real timber, and accent walls with integrated lighting. Layout, blocking and lighting are planned with the homeowner and electrician before the first board goes up.
Estimates and process
Yes. The walkthrough and the written estimate are free. Signature Finish Carpentry measures the space on site, talks through profiles and materials, and then sends a written scope with the work, the materials and the price.
Each job is priced after a site walkthrough, as a written scope with a fixed price for the work described. Prices are not published online because trim, stair and built-in work depends on the rooms, the materials and the condition of the house.
Either way works. Signature Finish Carpentry can supply and install, or install material that the homeowner or builder already purchased.
No. The trim is installed and prepared so the painter has nothing to hide with caulk, and painting or staining is done by the homeowner's or builder's painter. Signature Finish Carpentry coordinates with them so the schedule is not held up.
Four steps: a walkthrough on site, a written estimate, the installation with the site covered and cleaned daily, and a final walk where any punch list items are fixed before the space is handed over ready for paint.
After the drywall is hung and finished and before final paint. On new construction and remodels, Signature Finish Carpentry schedules around the other trades so the painter and flooring installers can keep moving.
